Made by Nel is a Belgian cake studio founded in 2018 by Nele Verhellen. It creates decorated cakes and cookies for companies, events and private customers — from a single piece to large logo orders.
The challenge
The studio started on a small entry-level printer with a print area of just 11.5 × 11.5 cm and room for products only 2.5 cm high. It needed constant supervision, ran on expensive cartridges that could not be refilled, and printed with uneven quality. As orders grew in 2024, the printer became the bottleneck: larger logo orders took too long and deliveries were delayed.
The solution
Nele chose the IMAGO Vulpes Pro for its large 32 × 65 cm table, automatic height detection, room for products up to 15 cm high and one-touch serial printing with refillable inks. IMAGO’s service team installed the machine and trained the team online, and fast remote support has kept production running since.
The results
- Production up to four times faster — from about 400 to 1,600 pieces an hour
- Printing cost per piece reduced around 20-fold; the same amount of ink costs about 17 times less
- Delayed deliveries eliminated and lead times cut
- Capacity to accept more orders, with far less manual supervision
